The NISIM Research Unit is a DigiUtopikA Lda. department that conducts research and development activities in the sectors of Software, Human - Machine Interaction and Multimedia.
The main technical, organisational and scientific areas of expertise, for the creation and development of the NISIM are Software Engineering, specially in the areas of multimedia and innovation management. The DigiUtopikA Lda. NISIM Research Unit aims to explore synergies and the multidisciplinary perspectives delineated under the subject "Man-Machine Interaction", more specifically Interactive Graphical Computation, Multimedia, Cooperative Work, Intelligent and Multi-modal Interfaces, Accessibility, Ergonomics, Cognition and Interaction.

Inserted in the scope of the Technological Research and Development Incentive System (SI & DT - Sistema de Incentivos à Investigação e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico), NISIM is partially supported in the modality of Non Refundable Incentive in the amount of 72.592,07 Euros. Totally, the investment made by DigiUtopikA Lda. in this application is 199.970,37 Euros. The activities associated with this funding started in the 1st October of 2008 and have a duration of 3 years.
